Pollangu directed by Gandhi Marx is a thriller starring Ravi Rahul, Nisha Lalwani, Vishwa, Vetri, Yatra and Narayanan in cardinal roles. The film has entirely been shot in the deep forests of Kodaikanal, Thalakonam and Kerala.

The film revolves around a couple, who goes for their honeymoon to a forest. They get caught by a group of anti-socials and how they escape from them forms the plot.

The entire first half of Pollangu is a chase sequence and the entire cast keeps screaming, which sort of spoils the mood to watch the movie. The film’s female lead, Nisha Lalwani contributes to the major part of the excessive noise. The chemistry between the lead actors Ravi Rahul and Nisha doesn’t work out well. It looked as though all the actors in the film wanted to establish themselves as a better actor, with their exaggerations. But, unfortunately it was more disturbing than inspiring to see such performances.

The film’s dialogue writer didn’t have much work to do, considering that the major part of the film’s script was occupied by non-lexicals.

Cinematographer Vinoth hasn’t done any wrong. He has captured whatever is required. But the DI colouring makes every frame look artificial. The CG department has also done a bad job in removing the ropes. And this is definitely not the best work of editor Suresh Urs. But, again there weren’t any problems with his work too. The greatest positive in the film is the locations. The deep forests do create thrills. But a few locations were repetitive and it was too obvious.

The team has surely attempted few daredevil stunts. But, considering that huge pythons and venomous scorpions fail to either kill or at least hurt the intended people, those creatures could have been avoided. It would have saved the audience from mental agony.

Jubin’s songs fail to stop the audience from going out for a smoke. The background scores are as noisy as Nisha’s voice and cause irksomeness. The songs too aren’t well placed. It was a cheap promotional tactic by the makers to stuff in two item songs in the film that were completely out of sync.

After watching the film one feels exhausted and depressed. It looks as if the director has created a random scenario for a movie so that he could showcase the lovely locations he has enjoyed watching.
